Pen drives Go Crazy

Share
Pendrives/USB Flash drives consists of a flash memory data storage device integrated with a USB (Universal Serial Bus) 1.1 or 2.0 interface. USB flash drives are typically removable and rewritable, and physically much smaller than a floppy disk. Most weigh less than 30 g. Storage capacities in 2010 can be as large as 256 GB with steady improvements in size and price per capacity expected. Some allow 1 million write or erase cycles[citation needed] and have a 10-year data retention cycle.USB flash drives are often used for the same purposes as floppy disks were. They are smaller, faster, have thousands of times more capacity, and are more durable and reliable because of their lack of moving parts. Until approximately 2005, most desktop and laptop computers were supplied with floppy disk drives, but most recent equipment has abandoned floppy disk drives in favor of USB ports. Now it is available in different attractive designs.

The invention of Pen drives creates a great revolution in sotrage medium. Before, its much risk to store data in secondary storage devices like CD, Floppy disk etc. To store data in a CD/DVD we need a external device. And one of the major draw backs of these storage devices were it cannot contain much more larger size of data in a single disk. 750MB is the maximum capacity of an ordinary CD and less than 100Mb for the floppy. We cannot re-write data on CDs. But when we comes to USB flash drives, its very easy to use and less in physical size but actually can contain much more data. When pen drives were released, at that time it is also very high rated like 55$ for 250mb USD. But now it is very cheap. and for the 55$ we can actually buy an 8BG USD flash drive.
